As a professional hairstylist, it's important to inform your clients that visible color shifting can occur when they are exposed to certain metals like iron, manganese, and copper in their water supply. Copper, in particular, can cause unwanted discoloration, especially when exposed to it directly in swimming pools. To prevent this, it's recommended to prep the hair with either Goldie Locks® Signature Conditioner or Goldie Locks® Signature Leave-in Conditioner.
If your clients do experience discoloration due to metal exposure, you can offer solutions to help correct it. Goldie Locks® Clarifying shampoo is an effective option to remove buildup and restore the hair's natural color. Alternatively, color-correcting shampoos can help neutralize unwanted tones and restore color balance. For more severe discoloration, a professional chelating service may be necessary to remove excess metals from the hair.
By providing your clients with preventative measures and solutions to correct discoloration, you can help them maintain healthy, vibrant hair all year long. Encourage them to use Goldie Locks® Signature products to protect their hair from metal exposure and provide solutions to help them restore their hair's natural color and health. With your professional knowledge and the right products, your clients can enjoy beautiful, healthy hair regardless of their water supply or swimming habits.
Summer Shelf Must Haves
For clients with high porosity applying a conditioner may do the trick to keeping tonal shifting at bay prior to relaxing in the pool. Prep on dry hair 5-10 minutes before diving in.
On dry hair prep the hair generously with this leave-in conditioner prior to taking a dip in the pool. This can sit on the hair up to 5 minutes prior to jumping in.
Recommend your clients usage keeping in mind that a clarifying shampoo should not replace their hydrating shampoo completely but looked to as an antidote to keeping their strands balanced.
